Question, regarding wastegate setup

I was wonder what the Difference between Gated Boost Control Valve hook up vs pressure regulator hookup is ?

The waste gate operates by a vacuum line running from the compressor housing on the turbo to the waste gate actuator. If a boost controller is used, the vacuum line runs from the compressor housing on the turbo to the boost controller, then to the waste gate actuator.
