is my D15 worth boosting?
ive got a stock D15 in my eg6, 371xxxkm :|.
-would it be worth boosting?
-im not looking to spend much since it will probably blow up so whats a price range i can expect?
-how much could i get to the wheels?
-or would it be more worth it to just get a D16 or B series?
any input is appreciated, thanks.

thats kinda high mileage, but i've tuned other cars that have just as many miles on the stock engine and they're still going to this day.
I don't recommend using cheap parts, b/c ultimately you get what you pay for.
Ebay kit is $1000
Good kit is $3000-4000
Also budget for larger injectors, better fuel pump, chipped ecu, tuning, colder spark plugs and possibly a better clutch to hold the extra power you'll be making.
You can easily make 200whp on a turbo d-series if its the vtec engine.
A b16 swap will cost about $2500 and yeild 140whp.

Well said.
OP what are your power goals? Also it comes down to preference and budget. Some people just turbo a B-series where as some go the extra mile to build a D series and turbo that. I would take a boosted d over b any day, its just the thought of a tiny motor putting out 200+whp is mind blowing[ofcourse that would be modded d series motor].
You can spend the money on a B-series swap and turbo that. You can easily run 250+whp stock.
So in the end its your budget/power goals.

Dude, if your in debt you really shouldn't be spending money on a turbo kit. Like Zman said, if you cheap out, it's only gunna cost you more in the long run. You could always save up a little bit, and swap in a D16Z6, D16Y8, or D15B for fairly cheap, then save up a little more and boost it properly, with a proper tune, and you will have a reliable boosted car that will make decent power.

also agree ^
if you're serious about boosting a D series engine, swap a z6 or any of those other engines up there (with less miles than yours) and work from there.
because if you're going to slap a kit on a 371xxx kms engine, you risk doing it all for nothing if the engine might give out soon.
then again, its been said before and it might be the best advice you ever listened to: do it right, or do it twice.

stock d-series on boost are actually alot of fun and usually with the stock turbos found on other cars (t25,t28,small16g,big16g,14b and so on) make for a really fun and torquey power band.
dsms are great for some parts including injectors, bov, and turbos. I would not use the sidemount intercoolers of a stock car as fair good bar and plate intercoolers there days are not that expensive.

I forgot to mention to ensure the engine is worth while boosting ensure your compression numbers are good and general health of the motor is fair.
making sure the general maintence is up to par helps aswell.
valve lash adjustment
timing belt water pump
cap
rotor
spark plug wires
spark plugs ( will be putting in different heat range plugs since you are boosting anyways)
no oil leaks
Also as i have done in the past decorbbonization.
All this will aid in ensuring your turbocharging experience will go over well. You will make good power and reliabilty will still be existent.

and a good way to blow up your engine too.
At a bare minimum use proper engine management, such as a chipped obd1 ecu and a custom tune with crome/Neptune/Hondata.
240whp would be really pushing a stock SOHC engine.
