NOS vs turbos

So i was reading on NOS and turbos. Turbos seem to be the better long term option for better power however nos is way cheaper ( according to people) and you can get 75 + when use.

I havent found much about NOS... Any of you guys are running nos in your cars or know the price for the kit and the installation ..

I would prefer a turbo however I ll probably wait till next year to do a B18 swap and have a better engine to tune ( if i can get the money)... for the time being I just want a quick and affordable solution to increase the HP of my civic and for what i been told and read NOS is the best way to go for my needs ( i just need the power for the track )

BTW i m pretty new in the tunin scene so i dont want to go all crazy with turbos , headers etc etc yet... maybe next year if everything goe right

I can only spend less than a 1000 ( maybe even less now that i spent so much in making my car look better) for the remaining of this year

A nos kit will run anywhere from $600 to $2000, all depends on what kind of kit you want. You can have it so it sprays into your intake manifold or you can have it spray right into the combustion chamber. I would go with the turbo set up still, as you have it all the time, and NOS you can not have on the streets.

thanks

I seen a couple on sale in this site... To be honest I dont want a under 14 second car for now. However a little more power when i need it will be good enough to start... Do you know who installs them or sells them in toronto ...

And yea i agree with the turbo set up , but so far i havent seen anything under 900$ .... Nos however i seen under 400 $.... Also i was told that they can be refill and yea i will only used on the track

Well I have experience in both Nitrous and Turbo.

Nitrous :
Cheap, fun, DANGEROUS.
You can get a kit for $250 +/- sometimes less.
Install is simple, or if you have to pay some1 CHEAP.
Basicly on a D vtec motor I would not spray more then a 50 shot. On a d non-vtec I wouldnt spray anything more then a 35shot.
Retard some timing, get colder plugs, do a full tune up, check your injectors / fuel pump are in GOOD working order.
Only use a WET Nitrous set-up in My opinion.
On a B series I would not use anything greater then a 65 shot.
I have used Nitrous kits in the past about 5 yrs experience and I love them!
Best kit in my opinion is N.O.S. Brand. Be sure to have a good gauge on the bottle, and a bottle warmer. I have went 13.2 1/4 mile on a d-vtec 75shot. bone stock block. I also had a 80 shot on a gs-R/b16 crx which ran 12.7 n/a....never did 1/4 mile with the bottle but obvious 11's.
Now I have entered the boosted world...and recomend all to go BOOST.
Pm me if you need any boosted parts... and pm Andrew aka Zeeman for a Tune and install.....
Honestly though Nitrous is more fun ( Most I have sprayed was a 80shot direct port...WOW And I was once in a mechanics BONE STOCK B16A1 which sprayed a 160 shot direct port and OMG NO TURBO CAR CAN COMPARE )...if your carefull...but once the bottle is low/empty you cant act all cocky anymore....has happened way too many times to me.... And @ $7/lb it gets expensive FAST.

Just my 0.02

Ohh and I forgot to add :

IF YOUR MOTOR HAS "ANY PROBLEMS" ONCE YOU SPRAY THEY WILL TURN INTO BIG PROBLEMS!!!!

For example your motor burns a bit more oil then it should?
Well once you spray it will get MUCH worse...untill one day you hear a BANG and a rod snapped through your oil pan!

B20's are typically no good with forced induction.....
I would spray a b20 a 50shot, check everything then give it a 55shot check everything then give it a 60shot and make sure everything is GOOD.

OP: if ur saving up for a B18 swap, then maybe as a word of reason, i suggest that you just hold off for now.
realistically speaking, instead of spending the money twice (nos or t/c is a significant purchase imo), maybe you should just keep the money in ur pocket, and use it towards ur swap instead.

Now, i know this isnt a sales thread, but my dad fwd me this link last week. a client of his has all this stuff for sale. One Hell of a Garage Sale mods, if the link shouldnt have been posted, then my apoligies.

V-tec D series is 100% stronger than B20, no two ways about it.

OP: Save your money. Don't waste it on nitrous. Who wants a power adder that you have to re-fill??? Seriously! So lame! Costs you more down the road anyways after multiple re-fills.

Save your money for later so you can build the motor/turbo kit you really want. Just be happy with the way your car is now, enjoy the fuel mileage. The fun can/will come later if you save up. Trust me. So many times I see ppl want more power from their car NOW and they want to build something significant like a swap or turbo etc...but they don't have the money and don't want to wait and want everything cheap.

Fast, Reliable, Cheap. Pick 2.

Save up enough to build it properly the way you want and you won't regret it.
