motor oils

Redline is huge in the Subaru world. Offering everything from engine oils, to the proper STI diff. fluids. You can get it at Canadian tire, even off there website, for your Redline 5w30 and 10w30. It's usually cheaper than AMSoil too!
That being said I called Canadian tire, and talk to 3 idoits about the oil the web says they have, and they had no idea that their story carried it.
Mike has a good point. If you're adding new fluid to your engine... chances are you'll have new fluid in your enigne lol.
- Not only that, but as soon as you add 2 to 3 liters of "topping up" between oil changes, at around $10 per liter for synthetic, you've already practically paid for an oil change with conventional oil. It can (and in my case, did) still end up costing more to run synthetic, even though the main oil change intervals are over twice as long.
But it all depends on the condition of your engine. On an older engine with higher mileage, worn seals, rings etc.. where you're basically pouringt he oil otu the tail-pipe, in my eye's it's not worth it. But if you engine is not burning oil and is still in great shape, by all means, switch to synthetic if you wish.
And a point that was brought to my attention on Freq. oil changes: We drive better designed engines, we refine oils better, you'd think the technology we have would allow us to prolonged oil changes. Not doing them every 5000km's like you might have done 15 years ago.

Brian said it, and I've said it before; Times have changed, oil has changed and advanced in many ways. Even regular oil is better then it used to be and can be stretched beyond the traditional 5k mark, which was set back in the stone-age. lol. Espectially in newer engines where more advanced low-friction materials and manufacturing processes are being used, today's engines can go much further then those from back in the day.
