Good Oils:::

I use Quaker State, because my engine burns oil so fast and OEM filters. I'm not going to spend $$$$ on oil.
I do oil changes in my driveway.
If I had an engine that didn't burn oil, I would use Mobil 1.

dude, this thread is about good brands and types of oil, NOT how to change your oil....jokes!
you would most likely wanna get that off from underneith the car.
i used to be able to change the oil on my firefly without even jacking up the car, but i think i would need to put the front up on stands for my civic.

unless you have rubber bands for arms i dont think its possible to get at the oil filter from the top.... the two main reasons i use synthetic is cause my car idles and run much smoother and i only have to change oil like twice a year if that

Let's see... Civic uses OEM filters and Mobil 1 5W30, Saturn uses Castrol GTX 5W30 and ACDelco filters, Suzuki uses Fram filters and Quaker State high mileage formula oil 5W30, Prelude uses 5W30 Castrol GTX and Fram Filters. My dad's Golf uses OEM filters and Mobil Delvac 5W40 CH-2 (diesel synthetic oil).

motul 6100 and oem filter on both civic and jetta. change oil on jetta every 7000-10000km and 3000-5000km on civic. had mobil1 in the civic for about 1000km, but it burns too quickly at very high revs (gets too thin at high heat). I have heard from guys that race that the mobil1 you get at the retail level is not the same as the mobil1 that the race cars use and borders motul 300v in price.

I have had no problems with Mobil1 burning with my '00 SiR. It's pretty much stock though.
I use Mobil1 5W30 synthetic and Honda oil filters like most. I take my car for oil changes at various places but I supply the oil and filter. I've gone to Buddah's shop. Can't beat the price.
I try to change every 5,000-6,000 km but last time it was 7,000. I figure with synthetic, I have some margin of safety.
If wasn't going to use synthetic, I would use genuine Honda bottled oil. This stuff should be available at dealers. This oil is made to the same specifications to the oil added at the factory. I hear it's pretty good quality stuff from the supplier. Maybe Marty can confirm....
