^^^ bingo...

halogen can't shoot very far anyways. i had the same question as you guys but i decided to go out and spend 30 bucks to find out why for myself. i'm still rocking my yellows because i haven't had the time to put my new ballasts back in for my hid kit. honestly, i've tried so many different halogens and its such a waste of money. i went from oem stock to silverstars then to nokya 7500k rate bulbs and then to yellow before moving up to hids. i mounted my ballast in a bad location and they ****ed up on me but the seller was more than happy to send me replacement parts so for now i'm still rockin the yellows. i don't get how people can tell the difference between a stock bulb and silverstar. the output is exactly the same but the only difference is colour. whiter makes people think their lights are actually brighter but they're not. this is how i classify all the bulbs i've tried.

nokya 7500k
oem stock and silverstars (same ****)
and nokya yellows

with the limited distance the halogen bulbs are able to put out. i figured i take advantage of all the things closer to me so i went with the yellows. they make the signs stick out a lot more because of the yellow tint which makes them easier to see. in the end hids are the only way to go. i think people are stupid for going out and buying 100 dollar piaa bulbs to imitate the hid look. they're not that much brighter. they're higher output but it also puts a bigger strain on the wire harness which will melt it unless you upgrade them. so spending 100 bucks on piaa and another 40 or whatever for harness, you're already almost half way to purchasing an hid kit that's 3-5x brighter than halogen.

lol i went off track here but i hope you understand.

Yellow headlights are legal, but whether or not they would draw attention to your car and other possible "illegal" modifications is debatable.
