Legal or not legal?

Is your car 100% street legal?

By 100%, I mean EXACTLY that... no 99.9% - it's either YES or NO.

If not, what isn't legal about your ride, and why haven't you corrected the problem?

Illegal:
Non-DOT approved headlamp housings
Cut springs
Excessively stiff suspension
Non-DOT tires
Excessively lowered
*(if you can't clear 99.9% of the speed bumps out there, it's too low)
No horn
No license plate lights
Improperly colored turn signals, headlamps, or tail lights
Non-clear or colored license plate covers
Excessively loud exhaust
Punched, gutted, or missing catalytic
Anything vented to atmosphere that should not be

With the new anti-street racing bill, everyone knows modded (poorly or not) vehicles will be targetted. If your ride is NOT legal, are you going to fix your ride? If not, why? If so, what are you planning to do to make your car legal?

Thanks for any replies.

Thats the thing, I would consider my car legal in every aspect except the exhaust noise. Do the Police have the right to pull my car off the road for too loud of an exhaust? Or can they only issue a ticket, I would hope so since its not a safety issue.

The rear license plate must be illuminated.

Excessively loud exhausts can result in:
- improper muffler
- excessive noise

Keep in mind that not all aftermarket exhausts are LOUD.

After some discussion, I opted to go with an Apex'i WS2. It it pretty much near stock in terms of loudness, and it has a nice enough tone that I can handle long drives in excess of 3 hours without a problem (no resonance in the cabin).

I have made the effort to ensure my car is 100% legal.

I think mine is legal too. I've never been hassled by copy because of any mods I have on my car. I am still not sure if the tints are legal or not, but I have never pulled over for them being too dark.

The darkest on the front that you are aloud is 35%, and you can go as dark as you want on all the windows behind you.

arent shaved door handles and aftermarket steering wheels that do not have an airbag illegal? secondly, does passing a safety means you are car is 100% legal?

no, it just means it is safe enough to go on the road.

you do not even have to have an engine in the car to pass saftey, therefore emission components and such are not checked

Spike's car is not legal. Shaved door handles and no horn are a big no no- I'm not a 100% about the handles being totally illegal though b/c they are the back doors.. I know the horn will get him a ticket- and possibly the handles too
