Whats the difference b/w 1 stage paint and 2 stage paint ?

i've never heard of stages of paint... i've heard of levels of clear coat though... some are like factory... and some look like glass when on

stages basically mean how many different coats that get applied.

so if ur painting ur car ELECTRON BLUE PEARL
it will be a 3 stage paint job

1st stage (BASE which is the electron blue ONLY)
2nd stage (PEARL so it gives it the ELECTRON BLUE PEARL effect)
3rd stage (CLEAR which is the clear coat)

if u wer to paint ur car ATLANTIC BLUE METALLIC
it would be a 2 stage paintjob

1st stage (BASE which is the metallic blue)
2nd stage (CLEAR which is the clear coat)

usually if u go custom colours etc thats when the stages start increasing like for example a Kameleon Kolor wit like 6 different colour effects could come ot over 4 stages to give it that effect of the final outcome.

u see metallic colours come as one so it wouldnt get seperated so its just a base and a clear which is the clear coat.

now if u wer gonna get like a can of spray paint thats a whole different story cuz then they dont seperate the base wit the pearl etc its mixed already in.
