i took apart some of my car and what i notised is a have many spots with rust (like 20) its all little rust and oxidation , do you think sandpaper/screwdriver and spraypaint would be an effective way to get rid of it

well i just sanded mine down, sprayed that rust check primer stuff on. then i got a frost white can and sprayed my rear quarter panels. yeah it scratches it up a bit but nothing that scratch X can't solve. btw this was only where the plastic strip was where you take out. i had some surface rust near the bottom of my doors. i just sanded it down sprayed it and put scratch X on. getting a paint job sometime before summer so it's just a temp fix. i have to do it like every 3-4 weeks depending on how wet it gets. still looks fine IMO, you can't notice it unless you walk right up to the car.

that will help for a little bit, the onlt way to prevent rust from comming back is welding in new metal... even that isnt 100% effective...

i doubt it, from what you're telling us. i think it's just better for you to take it to a body shop and get it done properly. i haven't had my car for that long so they're just temp fixes until i get my car painted in may or june and get everything fixed. when i removed my rear tails to paint them, there was rust on the inside and i was quite shocked because i found something else under where the tail light was. it felt like a piece of bark but when i took it out it was a ****ing mushroom. fungus was growing in my car! i was like WTF?! lol it wasn't small either, it was like 6 inches long. anyways, don't mean to get side tracked go get it done properly! i'd only recomend what i do if you just want a TEMP fix.
