dealing with strangers

some people don't know any better so i thought i'd put in my two cents on how to protect yourself from selling your items.

1. for safety reasons always meet in a public place like a busy parking lot preferably in the day time and try to bring a friend with you. this is the year 2004 and every tom, dick and harry seems to own a gun or a kill bill blade these days.

2. meeting at your home is a no-no because it gives a potential crook the location of your car where he can steal it in the future

3. make it clear that you will not accept personal cheques whether they are certified by the bank for not. if people can make fake money they can also make fake bank chops to certify cheques with.

4. make sure you check every single bill for authenticity before you hand over the goods.

5. if the person you are dealing with doesn't like your terms then tough luck to them. if people want your product bad enough they will comply to your terms.

well that's all i can think of for now. feel free to add to this list.

Good advice

I would also try to bring a friend along with you and make sure you get some detailed information of the person if the transaction is significant in amount.

Write down the person's license plate so that you have some legally sound way of identifying them other than their nickname on here.

Or better yet, get a photo copy of all the info instead of writing it down.
