couple of headlight questions

Just a few questions, first of all, has anyone with an eg coupe ever hooked their headlights up so that when u hit the highbeams, both ur low beam and highbeam filaments stay on, instead of just highbeam filament?? Would it hurt the bulb to do this? And how would i go about wiring it??

second question, are fog lights really that useful, or are they just overated?

why would you want both high beams and low beams on at the same time? you're using the bulb more so im guessing it would wear it out more.

cause it lights the road up way better. if it dosnt hurt the bulb why not do it. On my old 4th gen when u hit ur highbeam high and low stay on. i must say alot better lighting results

I have the same car, when i need them both on, just click it enough for the high beems to come and and keep your hand there as long as you want, that's a good way without messing up any wires, and for your second question if foglights are over rated

yes and no, it all depends on which ones you get

I got some super white plasma ones at wal-mart and my buddies know i'm at coming from like 4 blocks away....+ my exhaust is loud

foglights are NOT overrated, if they are quality and aimed properly...... its when people put hyperwhite bulbs in the fogs for looks, that they nolonger serve a purpose

i would assume it would draw more current and it will be a potential fire hazard.

as for the hi beam lo beam thing its pretty stupid to do. why would you blind others? if they crash cuz of you its your fault and thats a no no on your insurance behalf because they wont pay out either cuz of your un necessary modification causing improper light output.

stay smart stay stock!

but if your using high beams in the first place, you won't be around others...you would just switch the low beams back on if traffic is coming.

that being said, he's right...just buy driving lights that way its easy hook up and is just as bright depending what you buy. there are always 100-130w H3 bulbs available too, so really no need for the high beam+low beam wiring trouble.

driving lights/fog lights are worth every penny if mounted/aimed right. i aim my driving lights for 20-30ft in front on my car, then my headlights take over so it gives you 5-100ft (or whatever headlights go to) of light plus it lights up the sides more too. i got driving lights cause in toronto its low beams always, so this just adds more light. you can get beams that are wide or long depending what you want them for. i chose wide, but i wish i had chosen longer beam pattern.

im not wanting to do it to blind other people thats what LOW beams are for. im only saying when i flip to highbeams haveing both ur low filament and highfilament on lights the road up better.

but the real question is.... how long do you plan on running it like that?? a few quick seconds? just hold it in place.......for a while?? probably not a good idea

I love having quad highbeams!

9005 lowbeams and 9005 hi-beams...driving back country with both enabled is a joy!

and yes, 5th gen lighting is horrid with that single dual filament bulb

I believe it would be pretty easy...just have to do it so the low beam wire doesnt shut off when the high beam is turned on...but I'm sure this would cause excessive heat in the bulb itself and either burn it out or blow it up

that would give out major lighting. i think it's a very good idea as long as you face/adjust your headlights properly and not blind others.

or drive with hi beam and adjust your lights properly. but having hi and lo beam on at the same time is worth a try......i would say the ghetto of HID.
