Is clearing headlights dangerous?

Well, I mentioed to my brother that I Was going to clear out that ugly orange refelctor in the corner light, he says that its dangerous and shouldn't do it considering I drive downtown during the day a lot and it would be nearly impossibly to see just the bulb.

Is my brother being a jerk or does he have a point?

How hard is it too hook up side markers?

I figured that it would be illegal to have it with a clear bulb and your brother does have a point about the daytime visibility of clear corners. I put some amber bulbs in and they reflect a lot and from some angles it looks the same as before, other angles it looks clear.

Oh, and i thnk that Sylvania makes cool blue reflector bulbs that light up orange, so you don't see them when your lights are on. I don't know where to get them or what they cost though.

isn't illegal and it's definitely discernable that the signal IS in use

read thru the hta...

you'll be fine and have the ability to fight it if ya run into any kinda shyt..
just make sure they don't look blue at all (flashing blue lights are a no-no) and are easily discernible (it's obvious they're flashing) and there ain't nuttin' anyone can do about it......
hta clearly states directional indicators must be either an amber or white color and clearly indicate the drivers intentions

i got pulled over for having hyperwhite bulbs as blinkers in my ek sedan back in the day because you can't see those things during the day with the sun and all...the cop let me go with a warning. I also thought you had to have some sort of amber lense on the front of your car?

I'm planing to clear my headlights next week. I'll probably replace the stock bulb with one of colour (I guess amber would be good, since its legal). However, I'd love to be able to find those sylvania lights that look clear but shine amber, as Si Veloz mentioned . I'd like for the headlight to look clear, rather than to see that ugly orange bulb in there. Where can I get on of these clear bulbs that shines amber? Canadian Tire? Partsource?

me thinx ya misinterpreted what i meant..

i have sylvanias for head lights, hyper whites for running lights and oem bulbs (clear) for signals...they just shines yellower than the sylvi's and the hypers so it "looks" yellowish

shlammed..
you got the warning cuz when lit they show white but when not they have a blue glass...ergo flashing blue...got the same warning once too
and no, you don't have to have amber lenses..

(6) A mechanical or electrical signal device shall clearly indicate the intention to turn, shall be visible and understandable during day-time and night-time from the front and from the rear of the vehicle for a distance of 30 metres, and shall be self-illuminated when used at any time from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise.

I think that's why I got pulled over. Can't see those things from 10 feet nevermind 30 meters.

The amber bulbs do give off a reflection in the corner from certain angles and it almost looks the same as stock from head on. From the side, its almost perfectly clear. Vato_Loco painted his corner section so you don't see the amber doesn't reflect and you don't really see it til its flashing.

Here's the Sylvania link for the signal bulbs that only shine amber when sginaling:

I have no clue where to buy them. CDN Tire doesn't have em.
