Cleaning oily film off windshield....what to use?

Whenever it's raining and I use the wipers there's an oily film on my windshield and I can't see anything.

I know for a fact that it's tree sap because my parking spot is next to a huge tree. Every time I finishing washing the car the very next day I can see/feel this slightly sticky stuff all over my car.

Now I've searched for windshield cleaners and then went out to CT and Wal-Mart but could not find the products that were listed in those threads (most recent one ~2yrs ago). The only thing I could find was Rain-X. So either I went to crappy CT/Wal-Mart, they no longer carry those products or they were discontinued.

So what should I look for now??

use rubbing alcohol in the windshield water bottle as a mixture.

the only true way to fix this is to not park in that area.

if its tree sap then its not really oily its gonna be more sticky and ur gonna wanna use a goo-gone type product and then use a water/vinegear or water alcohol solution as a window cleaner and then not park there anymore

It seems oily to me because the water beads on the windshield when raining.

And as for the parking spot, I've got no choice as it's the only one available for my building.

Try using alcohol, vinegar or something like that to clean the windows AND wiper blades thoroughly. Use Rain X as your washer fluid.

It might sound and look stupid, but put one of those cardboard dash covers that goes on the inside on the outside to protect the glass.

gasoline with a rag. then wash it off with some soap. people underestimate the use of gasoline, it remove so much with such a little amount.
1 litre of gas = 1$
500ml of some other product = 5-10$

if you can't relocate your paking spot, you may think about getting a car cover. helps keeps some of the jizz off the ride.

or make a custom made plastic cover for external use with elastic loops on the sides that can go over your side view mirrors to hold it in place. a friend of mine made one for his car.

i heard just using a can of coke will do... just pour and wipe... just make sure you rinse off after you are done cuz bugs will get at it.
