USB votage output......

What is it, and what wire does what?

I have a USB keyboard I want to mod, but I ned to know the voltage of each wire before I go nuts on it.

Any info would be appriciated.

I want 100% answers....not guesses. This keyboard was not cheap.

94EG6HB........where are you? :working:

I'm confident enough to go poking around with a multimeter in there, but I just want to make sure. LOL

By the way, do ALL manufacturers use the same colour codes? I think it would vary from company to company.

I don't want to connect to a wire that doesn't suppliy enough voltage for what I want to do.

I know that 12 volts won't kill you...it's the amps that can.

A new CPU and ram can get expensive.

Engrish please.......??

The "new" computer has 6 USB 2 connections (also backwards compatable).

I haven't decided which one I'll use.......ie........2 on the board.....4 on the PCI slot. Does it make a diff?

I have a AMD 1700+ XP Hammer CPU, and an Albatron KX400-8x board.

I don't have a USB mouse......just a PS2 wireless one. I also can't seem to get the "other" functions of the keyboard to work. They seem to uninstall. The pause/volume ****/standby/help/mute all work, but the other stuff doesn't. I have to install the driver....click on it...then it works. When I close it for the night, the next time I boot up the thing, it forgets all the other buttons. ?????

Hope this helps.

I'll call you Aaron.

what is it yer trying to??
"rice" That's all I can say. :working:

USB ports have 4 wires gnd 3.3V and data - and data +. exactly how it all works I have no clue (going to stick to PS2 and AT and serial and parrallel ports for now ith my electronic gizmos)

also it doesn't matter which usb port you use and did you install the drivers that came with the keyboard?

yes.......but it refuses to keep the memory of the "other" buttons.....ie....stop/play/ff/rw/eject/shortcut 1 & 2/find/print/fax/shopping/entertainment/ect.....ect....ect....

.

It works when I install it........but when I re boot it, or turn off the computer, and then turn it back on, it forgets most of the buttons. Some of them still work, but I still don't understand why some do, and some don't.

Oh Aaron............
