Social concerns! - need help

Ok I need to do some research for a paper I'm writing. I've analyzed the problem but require some outside input since the paper kinda involves all people, not just me. In my mind the solution makes perfect sense, but what I need is people with opinions different than my own. I need a wider demographic in other words in order to plug the holes in my theory....

so here is the question...

Are you an organ donor?
If not, would you consider being an organ donor?
If not again, then why would you not consider being an organ donor? religious reasons, don't wanna think about your mortality, don't know how to become a donor, don't see the value of being a donor, or other (please specify)?
Would a financial incentive of say $100 influence you to become a donor? (ie. signing up to be a donor would give you $100)
Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year)
Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?)

No

No

From what I've been told, I understand that your organs are harvested when you are not like completely dead, but when death is probable and to be honest with you it weirds me out. Like If you were in a coma they could take your organs. I'm not completely sure about the workings of it and if someone could clarify that would be cool but would not change my mind.

Would a financial incentive of say $100 influence you to become a donor? (ie. signing up to be a donor would give you $100)
Absolutely not.

Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year)
Absolutely not, that would be illegal.

Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?)
Completely. Its my body and I have the right to do whatever I want with it.

Are you an organ donor?
-Yes
Would a financial incentive of say $100 influence you to become a donor? (ie. signing up to be a donor would give you $100)
-I would anyway even if there's no incentive.
Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year)
-I would donate it to good reputable charity organization.
Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?)
-not opposed. People are dying everyday b/c there are not enough organ donors.

so before anyone else decides to make the joke on your thread...

"I am never going to donate my *****"

or

"The guy who gets me ***** is going to be one happy dude."

-----------

OK, with that said one "scientifically" religious reason why I can see someone not wanting to donate their organs is when you die, what is left of you is perhaps the biotic remains of you.

Yes, one might become dead but it does not mean that everything within you is quite dead yet.

Pragmatically, your soul or life essense doesn't fly off. It becomes the soil you are buried in. You become parts of the worms that eat you. Plants and organisms can thrive off of your corpse.

Its like the way people say "you are what you eat". Its true. That once living carrot became nutrients that became you.

The question is, do you want what you consider to be "your self - eyes, liver, heart, lungs" going into someone else?

I don't want to chance helping someone I don't want to. If there is a .01% chance of me recovering from something, I don't want them harvesting my body.

no.

I would find a way to cheat $200 on my taxes somehow.

Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?)

If organ donation was mandatory, I would do whatever I could to make sure no one wanted any of mine when I was done with it. I think dangerous repeat offendors should have their bodies harvested after their trial.

Yes it would I'd love 100 dollars for doing something I already do

Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year)
Yes, because a tax write off for my organs sounds pretty good.

Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?)
I would not oppose this.

Other Comments:
I'd also like to say that those that are not willing to give their organs to others should not recieve organs from others. in other words if your not an organ donor and need a kidney, too bad for you. thats my take on it.

Are you an organ donor? NO

If not, would you consider being an organ donor? Perhaps

If not again, then why would you not consider being an organ donor? religious reasons, don't wanna think about your mortality, don't know how to become a donor, don't see the value of being a donor, or other (please specify)? Personal reasons

Would a financial incentive of say $100 influence you to become a donor? (ie. signing up to be a donor would give you $100) NO - same as below

Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year) NO - $100 for something that's personal is a joke, and kinda insulting this has to be a personal decision not made for monetary gain.

Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?) YES, noone has the right to tell me what to do with my body. *agreed*

My main reasons is just like Bruce Fee said - if there's even a remote chance of me surviving something there's no way I want a doctor to fudge the results and say i'm dying just so he can harvest my organs to save someone else.

Are you an organ donor? NO

If not, would you consider being an organ donor? MAYBE

If not again, then why would you not consider being an organ donor? religious reasons, don't wanna think about your mortality, don't know how to become a donor, don't see the value of being a donor, or other (please specify)? RELIGIOUS -perhaps...still need clarification on this one. if my faith permits me to, then i would definitely consider it.

Would a financial incentive of say $100 influence you to become a donor? (ie. signing up to be a donor would give you $100) absolutely not...$100 is insulting...i'm supposed to abandon my personal beliefs for a mere $100?!

Would an annual cost associated with your tax return for example influence you to become a donor? (ie. NOT being a donor would COST you money - say $100 - every year) absolutely not...the very notion that not being a donor would cost me money is a violation of my rights...it's my body and i can do whatever i want with it...and it shouldn't cost me a damn cent.

Would you be opposed to organ donations becoming mandatory and universal for all persons in Ontario who have a health card? If so, why are you opposed? (religious, rights to body, etc?) opposed for the same reason as above...how absurd.

bruce fee and alex bring up a good point since the organs need to be "fresh".

Yeah, but would you guys want to survive (that 1% that Bruce Fee mentioned) and be a vegetable for the rest of your life or go out saving 3 or 4 people in the process? I choose the latter.

that doesn't mean you're going to be a vegetable...

surviving doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be a vegetable, lots of people make full recoveries from things that they should theoretically have died from

i rather be a vegetable in a deep coma having sex and violence dreams for another 10 years.

i wouldn't have a problem is i could put a list of people who can receive my organs, but i don't want to help a stranger.

I think we should free up jails from violent and dangerous offenders by harvesting their organs for real. and corrupt politicians.. heh

if it weren't for the *****, modern medicine would be not even be close to what it is.

instead of taking it out on people for being born a certain race, take it out on people who are garbage.

I wonder if the inmates themselves (lifers) are asked to sign up for organ donations if they don't die of old age.
