RSX vs Civic Si (7th Gen)
#21
The rims are awesome! Luv them, luv them, luv them... they really make the car! I mean, coming from 14" hub cabs, with skinny bicycle tires.. then going to 17" with 215s, is a big difference!
Besides looks, I got some handling advantage now. I got 215/45/17 Yokohoma Avid H4s. There's more aggressive tires out there, but I think they are sporty enough for me and will actually last long too (Toronto Star just did an article, and said 100,000km). The roadgrip is immance! I can rip thru the Queenston loop and pull some major G's! Handy for losing those pesky Ford Focuses (Foci?). And to opposite of what everyone says, my ride quality has actually improved. I go over bumps that I know, and I hardly feel them now. Nothing special about my new tires, but it does speak on how horrible the stock Firestones were. Bad performance AND bad ride.
There's the downside though.. typically of Yokohomas, there is more tire noise now; an increase of about 10-15%. Plus now with the new rims, I'm forced to avoid every pothole & construction patches, including that notorious left lane on King Street! I also get a lot of punks who wanna race.......... but now I REALLY gotta avoid them, since my new tires + rims weigh more than before, and really slows my car down. Plus the new sound system, so even more weight.............. I barely outran a V6 Chrysler minivan last night!
