Need some advice pls read.

Well let me tell u briefly. I've actually purchase a car and paid deposit to a person on tcc club. He didn't sell me his car and i think he sold his car to someone else. But that's not my pt. He took my $500 deposit. He cancelled his phone # and he rarely goes on this forum anymore. He left me a cheque at his house and the cheque was no good because he took out all the $$$ he got and went and moved to california so he closed the bank account too. He rented his old place where he used to live in Markham. Now he lives in California in Los angeles. I knock on the door and his room-mate said he doesn't know anything about him. He messaged me on TCC saying he left me a cheque but i picked up the cheque from his room-mate and the cheque was no good. I've pm him back and e-mail him and no reply yet. So who do i go to sue him or something? I want my $500 deposit back. Do i go to the RCMP or do i go the ontario court of the attonery to sue him. So they can dig him out or something. Where can i go to find this person. I don't think a police station will do anything would they? Hope someone here can reply and help me thanx. Now i'm so broke.

Wow sorry to hear about that, that totally sucks.
Atleast you have the check and the deposit receipt.
I would definitly go to the police and file a report.
Let them advise you what to do.

You really didnt do anything improper, you have the paper work for the deposit so you have your proof.

Keep us updated and good luck!

if he has gone to cali, the chance of you getting your money back seems slim.

there isnt much the police here can do to help u even if you do file a report.

I know. To file a claim court is $75 i called. What if i don't even get the $500 and the $75 back? That's a big loss then. I will try the police station maybe next week.

you can also try and find his parents and bother them.

them going to homeowners insurance for broken windows from falling rocks a few months/year down the line might at least make you feel like justice has been served.
