Thumbs down Problem with starting the car

Hey guys and ladies. I am having a problem starting my car lately. I am pretty sure its the battery but I just wanted to ask if it might be something else. It seems like the battery but I just felt like asking to be sure. It takes awhile but then eventually it starts. I think I will just go and buy a new battery and see what happens.

if it's not the battery, it could be the main relay, or a number of other things. Keep us updated.

What's your ride? For 6th gen, it is common for the engine to take a long time when the fuel level is low. This is because the fuel pump takes longer to build up fuel pressure in that generation of Civic.

Of course, the battery is the first thing that would be suspect. Does your battery have an 'eye'? If so, it is easy to check (green is good, black needs a charging and red is no good)

Regardless of generation, when starting, it is a good idea to always turn your ignition key to the 'on' position first, wait until some lights go out and then crank it. It takes some getting used to, but once you get in the habit, it's nothing...put on your seatbelt while you are waiting for example. In the case of 6th gen, this will build fuel pressure and it won't take so long to crank.

Thanks man. I found out that its not the battery. My civic is a 6th generation. I have noticed though when my feul level is low that it takes a hell of alot longer to start. I filled it to about half this morning and it isn't taking half as long so maybe thats it.Thanks for the info!
