Hey guys so i have a 99 honda civic and a while ago i took the steering wheel off with the air bag to put on a aftermarket one. anyways long story short i put the stock steering wheel back on and the air bag plugged everything back to normal cause i am trying to sell my car but this SRS light is on

Does this mean that the air bag won't work anymore ?

Its a honda man, the SRS lights are always on lmao
Mines has been on for 3 years.
My Friends has been on for 2 and another guys has been on since like 2001 on his 96.
Just take the bulb out, wear your seat belt and drive safe. lol
Ive researched SRS light like a bazillion times and still cant fix mine.

just spoke to a honda mechanic lol

as long as the vehicle hasn't been in an accident and the air bag system works just need the system to be diagnosed and reset from honda or a collision center

hey guys so this guy who wants to buy my car took it to Honda today to get the SRS reset but i guess the dealership told him he has to spend 1100 to fix the airbag system but when i got in it to drive it home the SRS light is off now and it hasn't come back on.

does it mean the air bags do work ?

any glitch in the SRS system should set off the light...
should, not necessarily will

The light in my wife's car apparently started to come on intermittedly. This was after we had a coolant change in the car a few weeks ago. Early Dec we did a timing belt change also. I know these have nothing to do with it but what a coincidence. Oh yeah, car was broken into at Kipling Station in Nov but no problems though. I just noticed the steering wheel is not straight the other day. Was thinking they stole airbag? SRS light would have been on immediately anyhow. Any ideas anyone?

did they try to hot-wire it? maybe they stuck a screw driver or some other object in the steering column and damaged the srs wiring.. it's hard to tell without actually looking at it.. take the plastic coverings off and check out the wiring and make sure all connections are secure

Well, if its on steady, that means that it has been unplugged and needs to be reset. It will still work properly. If its flashing, that means that there is a problem with the system, and it should be looked at asap.

try this

- Start with the ignition "OFF"
- Jump the SRS Plug
- Turn ignition "ON". The SRS light will come on for around 5 seconds then extinguish
- Within 5 seconds of the light going off, remove the jumper from the SRS Plug, SRS light will go on
- Within 5 seconds of the light coming back on, replace the jumper on the SRS Plug, SRS light will go back off
- Within 5 seconds, remove the jumper once again, SRS light will blink twice to confirm the procedure
- Turn ingition to "OFF"
