SRS light on...NEED HELP!

My girlfriend's 99 civic EX's SRS light came on. I tried erasing the DTC memory to see if it would get rid of the light (it worked on my 98 hatch).

Does anyone know how to fix this problem properly (as opposed to removing the bulb)?

Did it just come on one day? Check the connections for all the wiring.. beyond that I don't know.. if somethings faulty or whatever it's probably best have to have honda check it out..

Does the horn work? If not, the SRS cable reel may need to be changed.

Usually when the SRS light comes on and the horn stops working its good indication that the cable reel is done.

The light's been on a little while now (we've just been lazy to get it fixed). The wiring and connections look fine. The horn works on the car as well.

Any other suggestions?

yeah..the same thing happend to me when i had my hatch...if your can, take off your air bag, unplugg everything and plug it back in, the light should be off, i think its a Torx 30 screw driver fo the airbag

No, it has never been in an accident before. It's so weird. The light just came on all of a sudden!

mine just came on yesterday, i don't know why.

the only change i made was i installed a sirius radio.. but it doesn't hook into the car in any way except through the cig lighter, and through the aux input on the front of my head unit. i don't really think this is related, but just sayin'..

anyways, i did some research on the 7th gen forums and a lot of people have the same problem. sometimes it just needs to be reset but will come on again weeks or months later.. dealer can probably fix it for an hour's labour, but it could come on again.. some people were recommended to replace the entire SRS control unit, i guess like a little computer, for about $400.. not sure how much of that was labour and how much was parts.

i'm gonna try resetting mine according to a DIY on 7thgen civics forum..
