Get a life. So should your friend.
Speeding and buying cancer sticks for a minor are two very different issues.
I hope you can tell which issue I condone.

WTF?? I dont even smoke if that what you think is wrong, and I wasnt even threre when he bought them?? i donno what your problem is .... I was just relateing the two makeing a good point that off duty cops have just as much power to make charges as on duty cops... they are different issues, but are both related to what an off duty cop can do, which is the issue of this thread??

And it sounds like you condone speeding, more than ciggerets...man you have issues... at least smoking only kills yourself, and in some circumstances 2nd hand...speeding you take the people around you with you when you crash... I watched some *** in an integra take out a minivan full of kids on the 400 infromt of wonderland last week, cuz he was whiping in and out of traffic trying to race a gti, he slammed right into a minivan, puting them both into the gaurdrail..

and buying smokes for a 17 year old is wrong?? geezus ...think before you speak, you need to get a life

You don't even KNOW that buying cancer sticks for a minor is WRONG? I am amazed. Smoking can and will most likely kill. I'm sure the tobacco companies are thanking your friend for helping that kid become an addict cause they need to replace the ones that have died off -> their best customers.
Smokers also put a drain on our health system.
And the way the integra was driving, "whiping in and out of traffic" "to race a gti", has nothing to do with speeding.
I drive at 120 to work every morning. Guess what? So is everyone else in front of me. I wasn't talking about idiots racing or cutting other drivers off.

Before this gets out of hand let me point out that I don't think a cop is taking his job "too seriously" when he is off duty and tickets someone for getting cigarrettes for a minor. Although I have never heard of an off duty or on duty cop pull someone over for doing 110 on the 401.
I think speeding is a gray area. But getting cigarettes for a minor is black and white. Totally immoral and illegal.

Speeding is NOT a "grey" area. You are either doing the speed limit, or you are speeding.

I'm getting dumber and dumber by the minute, as i keep reading this thread.

What's with everyone today?

Have you EVER heard of someone getting a ticket for doing 62km/hour in a 60 zone? Thats speeding but no one gets a ticket.
By "grey area" I mean its up to the police officers discretion.

I think that guy should ahve got a warning, if I was the cop I would have told the guy, hey buddy what are you doing??? It's illegal to sell cigs to a minor!

If he told me to F-Off! then I'd ticket him, if he stopped then I'd leave it be.

^^^If hes so gunho about doing his job on his own time, maybe he should spend his off duty time catching real criminals, like the ones selling crack, and heroin to young people... Instead of wasting his time catching somone buying lung biscuits for a 17 year old kid that will just ask his older brother or somone else, if my buddy decided not to buy them.... The kids obviously already addicted, hes 17 years old... You make it sound like my buddy was stuffing butts in the kids mouth forcing him to smoke them...
