Busted doing 50 over ?

Yeah but my point is that he knew what he was doing was wrong, but gave me as much benefit as possible. Basically telling me to go to court cuz he aint showing up.. Bottom line is he had to do his job and hand out tickets...

i think your thought process is retarded.
the autobahn in germany works just fine.
100km/h driving for 3 hours = 300km
150km/h driving for 2 hours = 300km
it's simple mathematics which you seem to be retarded on as well.
-----
impound fees would be dropped? what about car rental fee for you to get around? and if they are dropped, who pays the bill? it's excessive and ridiculous.

and in my post I clearly said 120-150, it's common sense, if you don't want to use it then don't bother debating.
#26
it's not common sense. you're changing the main crux of the debate... the law is for going 50 over the speed limit, not 30 over the speed limit... if 120 was the speed limit then 120 - 170 would be the numbers to use.
You just arbitrarily pulled 120 out of the air - there's no law saying you don't get a ticket doing 120.
People have and do get tickets for doing 120, you can get a ticket for doing 101 if a cop feels like it. They just don't get pulled over as often as people doing 135.

where will it stop? If you ask 10 people about how fast they can drive before getting pulled over I'm pretty confident you would get 120 out of 7 of them.
and your right, there is no law saying 120 is ok, but if you were around for the "raise the speed limit to 120" then you would know it's not just a random number that I pulled out of the air.

you started with the "childish remarks" did you not?
going an average of 90-110 will generally put you around 300km after travelling for 3 hours straight, while generally going an average of 140-160 will put you 300 after travelling for only 2 hours.
150 isn't some magic number that no one goes above. i've myself seen 3 cars on the 401 doing 170+ for what felt like a really long time to be pushing the cars like that.
i've experienced rides across the country and speeds in excess of 150km/h for an extended period of time.
i've mentioned here before, a cop was doing 150 with me for a long time on the highway, he eventually had enough of going so slow i guess he passed me.

i think what we should do is use the HOV lane as a"fast lane" with sustained speeds in the 140-160 area.. there are many vehicles out there capable of these speeds.
however, the general speed limit should be kept at 100 aroudn the GTA

i have passed cops doing 120-125 when they are doing 110.. no one seems to mind..
but going 150 when most people are doing 110-120 can potentially lead to accidents..

I know people in Quebec are maniacs when they drive, but they utilize the left lane properly, at least when I drove through it, people would pass and merge back to the middle lane. Drivers here don't seem to like that concept

....obviously this was a political move more then one of saftey.
and I agree with this, its not going 150 that causes problems, its going 150 and having to slow down and pass people doing 120-100 that causes most of the issues.

If they enforced things like that more I think the highways would be much safer..
while still maintaining innocent until proven guilty somehow... instead of punishing people right away.

This is another joke. Why dont they actually do something usefull, im all about getting dangerous drivers of the road but come on, your going to cause all this trouble for someone whos driving 50 over on some deserted back road at 4am in the morning. How many accidents have been caused on our highways by speeders... not as many as you think. There is far more of a problem with people who weave in traffic, run red lights, fix hair, do makeup etc. Our speed limits are a goddamn joke, as someone pointed out previously its hard to keep a new car at 100 kph. With this law you cant even contest or appeal. Ontario....... home of the most crooked insurance companies in the world, 50 over gets you $2000+ tickets, modded cars are automatically street racers, ridiculous speed limits designed as cash grabs. Yet getting your license here is a walk in the park, half the damn people on our roads shouldnt even have a license. All leads back to the dollar, the more people with a license the more money the government/ministry makes.

I read a funny story, a guy got a ticket for going 117kph, the judge told him that 1km over is worthy of a ticket, so him and a friend drove side by side on the 401 doing 100kph they caused a traffic jam 4km long and got a ticket for obstructing traffic. hahahha

the one thing i don't agree with is that it's 50 over, yes i know they have to decide on a cut off speed but if you're on the dull stretch of airport road 3 lanes wide with the 50km/h zone and you do 100km/h how is it justifiable to receive a harsher punishment than someone on a 3 lane stretch of the 401 doing 140?
Not to mention this whole thing is just an attempted witch hunt on modified cars. Burn the witches without trial....impound the cars without trial. <sarcasm> Glad to see we're going back to our roots </sarcasm>

look, the law is bull****... but eh... whaddaya gonna do about it? don't like it... move somewhere else. personally I don't care, I don't speed. but I kinda feel like we're living in a society where laws/enforcement is just out of control and there is nothing we can do about it. and again, it becomes a circular argument for me... if I can't do anything about it, then I don't worry myself with it. as for the speed limit being raised, I disagree. 100 kph is not bad, and it gives cops discretion over when to hand out tickets and when not to.
