this is ****ing stupidly ridiculious.

if it's such a problem to go over 150, why does anyone on earth even buy a sportscar?

everyone 30 minutes outside the gta is gonna have to stick to 45 over?

better yet, get a radar detector and laser jammer, the charge is far less than the 50 over charge

people never learn what? that the government is stupid?

eating cheese and french fries is bad for you too.

Under the new legislation vehicles can be seized and fines handed out when drivers:
Drive 50 km/h or more over the speed limit
Race and/or stunt drive
Drive with someone in the trunk

why did they also include driving with someone in the trunk? I didn't know they were targetting the mafia too...

there has been news and advertizing attention brought to this law for weeks now.. newspapers and radio and TV, and the police, have been warning people that starting midnight on sat they will be targeting those who go 50 over..

IF after all that someone still goes 50 over.. then i dont know if idiocy is a kind enough term..

I think if they are dead, having your car impounded and your lisence suspended is the least of your worries :P

Bruce why is this stupid? people going 50 over is pretty retarded in the first place. speeding to that extent should be saved for the track.

i don't think so buddy. how often do people speed and how often do they get caught? the reason why so many people were caught was because the cops would be blitzing right now to send a message, that is not their routine.

Does anyone on this Earth by an R1, a TL1000, or whatever bike to never go above 150? Even 100. Demonization of speed is legislative bull****.

There is a time and a place for everything.

I would support someone doing 150km on finch, or 80 in a school zone, but the 100km/hr speed limit across ontario is nothing but a cash generator for your government.

the 401 was designed for speeds of 120km in old ****ty cars.

nowadays we have better handling, acceleration, braking, and more safety features, why shouldn't there be an increase in speed limits? especially along the 401 outside of the city?

driving 150km for a few highway exits doesn't do much for anyone (other than derived pleasure by people who like to speed), but if you're driving 300km, you can make it in 2 hours instead of 3 by going faster on a straight road where there are no lights, pedestrians, or stupid children throwing a frisbee.

and to impound someone's car for a week and fine them thousands... that's pretty draconian if you ask me. it's less of a punishment than distribution of narcotics or assault as a first time offense.

Also, what happened to being innocent until proven guilty? You're not being given a chance to prove the officer wrong in a court of law before your car is impounded.

Oh, wait, I forgot, police never make mistakes or abuse their powers.

I'm pretty sure if you are found not guilty, then the impound fees and towing fees should be dropped also.

btw to save 1 hour, going from 120 to 150 you would need to drive more then 300km, 600km to be exact.

still going 150 is retarded, maybe not because your car can't handle it or you can't but because other people are not expecting someone to come up behind them @ 150km/h

i think your thought process is retarded.

the autobahn in germany works just fine.

100km/h driving for 3 hours = 300km
150km/h driving for 2 hours = 300km

it's simple mathematics which you seem to be retarded on as well.

-----

impound fees would be dropped? what about car rental fee for you to get around? and if they are dropped, who pays the bill? it's excessive and ridiculous.

Speed limit should be 120 km/hr, then people can safely go 140 km/hr and everyone would be much happier.

God since i got my company G6 (240 hp or whatever), it's actually difficult to keep the piece of crap under 130 km/hr.. Touch of the throttle and it accelerates.. I can only imagine a nice car... Bruce is correct IMO..

I got pulled over on Morningside and Ellesmere by a cop, who said I was doing 83 in a 60.. Before I could answer, he told me it was an honest mistake... He wrote me a ticket, told me I have 2 options.. setup a court date or pay the fine.. He didn't check if I had insurance, or even run my driver's record.. He told me he was from downtown on a special project.... He even went as far as to mention that sometimes cops don't show up to court and you go free.. Soo, decide accordingly..... Perhaps a cop with a conscience trying to meet his "unofficial" quota for the month?

Oh I was behind several SUVs and my speed never broke 70..
