Aftermath of attempted car theft!

Hey guys, a buddy of mine got his 6th gen hatch broken into and his audio stuff torn out. :fustrated
I think they were trying to steal his car, but failed miserably. They screwed up the ignition and the key can't be turned past ON. Hence he can't start the car now. Any ideas on how much the fix or replacement would be?

Thanks guys!

He'll have to phone Honda and price out the ignition lock cylinder assembly. Give me more info on the car and I'll find out pricing for it. It also has has to be coded to match his previous cylinder.

It's a 97 cx. (if my memory serves me right)
Does Honda have the cylinder locks already and just need to code them, or is this a special order item sort of thing?
Do you know a rough price for it?
Thanks in advance!

nope, not red.
will we be able to change the coding of the cylinder if we find one at a junkyard?
i mean, will he be able to match the key he uses with the doors, etc?
thanks!

New cylinder assembly costs $150.00 retail and for coding it's $60. Let me know if you can't find one at the wreckers.

Ignite ignition button - $50. Or OEM Honda S2000 start button prolly the cheapest options.

Your thieves were amateurs using a technique that works on Chryslers, to try to jack a Honda
