17" rims and size of tire?

Got an '03 Civic coupe lowered in Tein S-Tech and Tokico Blues. Is it possible to run with 17" rims and assuming yes, what size of tire would fit?

205/45/17 or 215/40/17 but it'll depend on the offset of the rims also, not just tire size.

From reading other posts, I'm guessing that an optimal offset would be between 40-45 mm - does this sound right? Or am I getting confused with something else?

i've got 17s on my 05 civic coupe...offset on my wheels is 40...pretty sure our cars can do between 35 and 45 but around 40 is ideal...

215/45/17 is the rubber i have on...

i'm switching to 15s though...17s look cool on our cars but are not the ideal set up for performance...

On my 03, I had 17" wheels, 42 offset, 205/40/17 and lowered on H&R SPort springs. No rubbing.

Im putting a wider tire on the back because I got them for free. I don't track or autocross or anything like that it'll be fine until I get a new set of wheels and go 5 lug.
