tranny swap

just wondering if a 5 speed transmission from a 96 civic dx d16y7 will fit on a d16y8 engine from a 2000 civic si.

Correct me if I'm wrong...It will fit but the gearing is slightly different...I have a D16Y7 with a D16Y8 tranny and my car is a dog...It might be the opposite with the tranny and engine reversed.

The gearing is different, but it will bolt up fine and work perfectly. You'll just have longer more fuel efficient gears.

yeah i ended up finding a y8 tranny for a good price, but thanx guys

just wondering if all d series engine take the same clutches i am looking at buying a clutch from someone who has a 92-95 civic, he says all d series take the same clutch just need a little insight thanx
