Rear Main Seal Leak

Rear Main Seal Leak
So I've been noticing a slow and intermittent leak occurring from under the engine. It started somewhere in Nov '09. It'll leak sometimes, and not other times, its really odd. Problem is its getting annoying since I'm marking up my parking spot pretty badly. Leaving cardboard pieces under the car just makes them look blacker and blacker.
Took it into the dealership and they're saying its the Rear Main Seal thats leaking. Of course to replace the seal the whole tranny needs to be removed. Est. charge is $1200 after taxes....Yeahh
There was a bulletin released by Honda about this issue. You think that would sway them to lower the price in anyway or let them know that it IS a known problem with the vehicle?
Heres the link to the Bulletin.

There's a reason dealerships are nick-named 'stealerships'.
There are other shops who will probably help you out for a much better price. Check the TCC affiliates.
I think my b16 has the same problem. Though there is no visible drips on the gorund, every time I go under my engine, the oil pan looks more and more oil coated. Might just be the pan gasket though. I gotta do my clutch this summer, so it can wait till then to be looked at.

Not to hate on you but dude if your car is a 99, they will tell you to go fly a kite. Its a wear and tear item. They wont do anything for you. Most problems like that are 3years or 60000km. I dont think they are going to help you.

$1200 is a lot of money to spend just on a rear main seal. Are they replacing the clutch while they are in there? Even if they are, my shop can charge you a lot less then what Honda would.
Yes it is a big job, but no where near $1200 worth. Shoot me a PM or e-mail if you're interested. If not, goodluck!
