alright guys i dont know a lot about transmissions as much as i know bout engines i have an ls vtec and i dont know what to do? of course i have the s80 and i wanna switch it up to the y80 but i heard its 1000 bucks i dont even know were i can grab one and can i do anything to my s80 like put lsd a launch control clutch and fly wheel and im good to go?

Best b-series transmissions for performance are the SiR, GSR, or Type-R, (don't know the codes) due to their shorter gear ratios. Some of GSR and Type-R trannys came with LSD. LSD can be added if it doesn't have it, but will cost extra...
The LS trans is more for fuel economy. Nothing, besides changing out the gears with different ratios, will help that trans perform better.

Do not use LS transmission with LS-vtec setup. ITR transmission has shortest gears, then GSR has slightly longer and b16 has even longer gears. All these 3 transmission will work very well with your setup. Just depends on what you want to rev on the highway. im happy with the 3700rpm at 120km/h in 5th....which is the b16[SIR] transmission, and it already sucks a lot of gas.
