Yeah so, I almost hit a police officer

Yeah... flame on cause I'm a f***in moron.
Passing one of those routine traffic stops for seatbelts and sobriety. I'm going really really slow, but I don't see the officer standing in the middle of the road flagging me down cause I'm trying not to hit the flares and other vehicles. So then I hear someone yell "STOP THE VEHICLE NOW!" By this time I see the officer in front of my car (don't ask me how I didn't see him at all... I must have been really really tired).

He's fuming (rightfully so). "Didn't you see me?!" "Are you drunk!?" I explain to him the situation to the best of my ability cause at this point I'm in total shock that I almost hit a police officer. He goes "You were heading right for me, I had to jump out of the way. Please pull over behind the cruiser for a sobriety test and don't hit the cruiser!"

So I do so, I haven't drinkin anything today, I'm not really headed anywhere either I'm just driving because I can't sleep and I'm feeling depressed about a bunch of things. So anyways he asked for all my stuff, asks if I have any weapons or alcohol I say no. As for my proof of insurance all I had was my insurance confirmation number... I had recently had my insurance switched over because I purchased this car last month.

Tells me he'll be back and I should call someone to come pick me up cause my license is expired (which I totally forgot). At this point I'm thinking wreckless driving... maybe assault charges... but instead for a bitter sweet ending I get failure to produce proof of insurance and driving without a license. For a grand total of 405 dollars payable.

Now, I wouldn't really care so much if I wasn't just out driving for no reason... I wouldn't have gotten all this had I not been so stupid and saw the officer I probably would have been waved through with no problem. So yeah, right now I feel like a F***in idiot. Considering that my license expired 2 weeks ago and I just totally forgot, seeing as I didnt celebrate it... it just passed by.

One question though, will the driving w/out a license be any points? or will it infuence my insurance premiums at all? I'm assuming I don't really have much of a case if I went to fight either ticket...

Man I feel sick now...

But I hope this makes everyone else feel better about their situations.

I believe neither of your two tickets are any points because they're not moving violations...

I'd go set an appointment with the justice of the peace bringing my new lisence and insurance with me and he'll probably drop it down... and if i'm not happy with it then i'd set a court date, the worst that can happen is that you'll have to pay the fine anyways, and odds are that the JP will drop it somewhat lower than what ur paying now as long as you've fixed everything that u had wrong...

Driving w/o license or insurance (or up to date ones, etc) does affect insurance premiums.

driving without a licence is i believe 3 points or 2 points.
i got the same ticket about 4 times. 3 times because my licence was suspended and once cuz it expired.
no problems for me cuz i can afford to pay to have it taken care but i learned my lesson now since i have an AZ licence.
