Whats the deal about INTAKES?

From HTA usefull notes:
Intakes - Are LEGAL. The Environmental Protection Act states that you are ALLOWED to replace systems of devices (such as an intake) so long as it complies with the regulations in the Act. So long as your intake is attached and working properly, you are FINE!
My friend just got a ticket for his intake.
Officer said its not emmisions legal and that it puts pollutents in the air....

WTF is the deal with this...>?
Is it legal or not?
Then why are the cops still handing out tickets of this?

As long as your not using a breather filter and have the hose attached from the valve cover to the intake tube then your fine! Their are alot of police officer's that give you tickets for having a K&N style filter, basicly because they can. But it's legal! If you go to court, you WILL win! They give them because they either don't know better or they just enjoy giving enthusiest a hard time.

Let the cop give all the tickets he wants. If they keep getting thrown out, his superior will give him heck.

isnt the cop also required to have an inspection certificate/warrant for this??

only an attested officer can give out such charges, and they should know better between a breather, and an intake

He won't get heck. And everytime you have to take time off work it cost's you money, where as he get's paid more money! Hell half the time these officer's don't show up because they know it won't stand, but they issue the ticket's just to give you a hard time!

No, a police officer can give any ticket he/she want's! It's up to you to take it to court and contest it!

Uh what the hell are you talking about?? Lets look at this scenario for example. An officers gave 40 tickets last month. Oh wow must be a good worker huh. Only to find out 4 of those tickets actually held in court and the rest were thrown out. Now Mr.Staff SGT will see this and you think he'll throw him a party? Oh yeah how many officers of the law do you know?? Thanks for playing.

So f you put a heat shield on your fine?
1sicsol : did your friend get pulled over for just an intake? was his car heavily modded? Excessive sppeding? If he was pulled over for one of these and then the officer saw the intake he would probably give him a ticket because cops are big dumbasses.
I thought the breather was illegal but he had to pull you over for something in order for him to want to pop the hood.
