It could have been worse. If you had hit someone while sliding through the light, you probably would have been charged with careless driving. If the roads are slippery from snow or ice, you really should slow down. If you were travelling a little slower, you probably could have stopped in time.
Anyway, lecture over.
You could go see the Justice of the Peace and explain that the roads were slipery and thats why you couldn't stop. I've used one of those traffic ticket specialists to represent my wife in court for a speeding ticket she got. Unless you know what you're talking about, I wouldn't go to court myself.

Anyways, wet and slippery roads are no defense against a fail to stop ticket. You're supposed to adjust your driving to the road and weather conditions.

Sure, everyone driving too fast for slippery road conditions should just be given a free pass if they should just happen to slide through a stop sign or red light. After all, it's a reasonable excuse, right?
And if they should hit another car while doing so, that should be forgiven too, because after all, why should they be expected to slow down just because weather conditions make the roads slippery?
This guy should be thankful that a minor traffic ticket was his only consequence for sliding through that intersection. It could have been a collsion, it could have been injury or death.
Next time, the itty-bitty sting of that minor ticket may remind him and encourage him to slow down and be more careful when the driving conditions are bad. That itty-bitty sting could end up saving his or someone else's life.
