Municipal Parking Ticket

Anyone get a ticket for parking on private property? Did you pay it?

Got one yesterday for parking in a VERY small plaza to pick up a sub right next door.

Totally B.S. I swear the owners of the shops in the plaza must just sit there and wait for ppl so they ticket them.

And it's not ones issued by the cops either.

Here's a pic of the ticket. Methods of payment are basically the same as a "real" ticket (mail/phone/in person/online). And it's to the Municipal Parking Corporation http://www.municipalparking.ca

I still think it's B.S. tho

Seriously??

So there isn't any "penalties" associated with not paying this B.S. ticket?

Guess what...I decided to email City Pulse about those two articles on thier site about the parking tickets and they emailed me back wanting me to speak with them about it.

Should I? Dunno if it's gonna be a tv interview or phone but I encourage anyone else who has gotten one of these tickets to do the same.

Why wouldn't you? i'd do it... otherwise places like that are going to kepe giving out BS tickets and there are people out there that will think they're real and will just pay them... while this company gets richer... expose the bastards!!!!

Were there any signs around saying that the parking lot is private property and intended for customers only? If there are then you deserve that ticket. If not then the ticket is totally BS.

How would you feel if a total stranger pulled up on your driveway at home and parked? You have to look at things from both sides.

still doesn't mean you have to pay it, regardless of if they are signs or not. For example, last week i went to a plaza to pick something up for work, all the parking spaces were filled so i parked in the only available space. this guy comes running out of a restaurant saying that these spaces right infront of his restaurant are reserved for his customers only... wtf? i'm going to the plaza just like anyone else, his restaurant is DEAD EMPTY, so he 'called the parking enforcement' i was only there for like 5 min so i didn't get to see them come, but do i honestly deserve a ticket? who cares if there are signs or not, a parking lot is made for parking, if they think they have a legit claim they should call the cops and have them give you a real ticket... not try to capitalize off it

the tenant pays rent to the landlord and most likely pays to reserve a couple of spots for customers in front of his restaraunt too. you parked in his spot that he paid money for and he's not making a dime off you. he has every right to tell you to beat it.

but yeah, you don't have to pay for the ticket if you don't want to. but some people do actually take it to collections eventhough the ticket is only $20.

The point is, from those reports, is that they are issuing look-alike tickets.

"The city received so many complaints about them, it passed a new bylaw on July 22/04, making it illegal for private property owners to issue the fines or demand payment."

Here's the link to that report.
http://www.pulse24.com/Business/Top_...2-002/page.asp

Also, there were signs at the lot where I parked. And it was only for 10mins max. The guy was probably sitting there waiting for ppl to ticket.
