how to get lower insurance when ur a new driver

im trying to get my civic on the road, but all the insurance quotes im getting are insane, im 17 and just gt my g2, and my parents crappy driving record seems to be reflecting mine just because i live with them, my car is in my own name, and all but still is expensive, anyone know anyways around the system

only way i know of is to get it in your parents name , and say that your an occasioanl/secondary driver, should only cost u about 200$ if u can do that but if your parents have a shitty record ur screwed... and u have a hard time getting a lower price

When I got my g2 I tried to do the same thing, but my insurance company told me that my parents can only have 2 cars under there name, unless they own a business (with proof). I had to put my crx under my name and pay $290 a month for insurance. I got a ticket for doing a rolling stop at a stop sign, and lost 3 points. I now pay $500 a month. Moral of the story, come to a complete stop at all stop signs.

yes it does.... my dad has his own business... he doesn't even really do anything with it anymore but its still a regestered business so the windstar is on that... and the focus is his daily driver car.... then my civic is under my mom and i'm secondary... i was at $700 a year before insurance started sodomising(Sp) us all

Yes, its best to go with a relative (make up some rent papers... saying your paying $100/month for a room) who lives out of the GTA and insurance will definately be cheaper. The quote for Markham was DOUBLE than what quoted at Waterloo... ooh I can't wait to move there for University.
