Upper Ball Joint Installation
#2
upper ball joints do not come apart. you must replace the whole upper control arm with the ball joint.
for replacement, its very easy, just got to take the nut off the ball joint, separate the joint, then 2 bolts in the bay beside the strut on the strut tower and the thing will slide out.
now the only thing is, on the back of the control arm there is a bracket, everybody usually just cuts it off in the middle to clear the strut but if it wasnt cut, then you will have to remove the strut or at least take the 2 nuts off the top of the strut and push the whole assembly down to get the control arm out.
Here is the picture to clarify which bracket i was talking about. it holds the two anchor bolts in line.
