I bet if you lift the car and pull that shock out you'll see the broken part and if theres other damamge. I think it's really the only way to fix it. pull it apart, inspect repair as needed and replace

Yeah so it was just the washer..

Its done and fixed.

Not a huge deal to fix either.

we should sticky this post. it made it from problem to problem solved without getting of on some tangent about what your dog ate for lunch while your car was doing something completely not related to the OP!

i would just get a new strut if its a stock strut then you will be able to find one easy peasy lemon squeasy

hey man had that happen to me as well, luckly it didnt go threw the hood. I agree it is the tapered washer #5 thats probibly been bent and the strut rod went threw or its missing. Take it apart and findout what happened.
