Cool thread, seen some nice photos.

I agree that if your new into photography or just want a new cam, it is wise to spend up and get a DSLR. By the time you make your purchases with a few P&S cameras, you would easily have enough cash for a DSLR.

Also just to point out, when you process your P&S cameras online or whatnot, they have to be cropped because P&S cameras take photos at the aspect ratio of 4:3 compared to the standard 4x6 aspect ratio.

But then again, the camera is only the tool and this thread proves that good technique still reigns over if your a noob with a DSLR.

I personally just picked up the Nikon D50 DSLR with Nikkor 18-70mm lens a few weeks ago and am loving it. There is lots to learn yet it is a joy to take pics with a fast shutter speed and all.

It's gonna be even better when I know Photoshop CS to post process some photos.

Edit: Here is a sample of a pic I took with the D50 using the 18-55mm stock kit lens before I got teh 18-70mm.

thats a sick camera...Ive used it..
but personally ID rather not have the swivel screen for self portraits, and maybe sumhow run on 2 batteries like the a520 rather then 4.

But the a610 and a620 are insane!

Oh damn, I didn't know that the a610 need 4 batteries, *** that...besides the a520 is only 299.99 at Futureshop
