I had a digital rebel...it was super sweet but I dont wanna lug around a slr camera, especially on vacation, goin out to parties and whatnot...not to mention if u want a picture of yourself most people cant use it and get a decent shot...if I had spare money I would have both the point and shoot and a dslr

Here's a sample of a few I like.

These two pics were taken with a p.o.s. Kodak 2.2mp.....but it still takes pretty good pics. This pic was was taken in 2003 (Toronto City Hall, NYE) without a flash. That's why some of the people are blurred....which looks kinda cool imo.

And this was taken sometime last summer at the ACC (the 2x zoom set at max....we had great seats).

These two pics were taken during my honeymoon in Mexico (2004) with a Nikon 3.2mp. I had to zoom all the way in, because the little fu@ker kept walking away when I got close. lol (no tripod was used......I have very steady hands.)

And this one was taken without a flash so I could capture the natural light as the sun was setting.

Note...........all 4 pics have been reduced in quality and size (as you can tell by the properties), but I have left them "as is" without any colour adjustments. The original pics are absolutely georgeous, but please don't ask for me to post them, because I will not upload them. And I'm sorry about the word "Sample", but I have seen a few of my pics pop up on other boards, by people saying that they shot them. (seems like it's happening more and more now-a-days to photographers...... kinda like that other thread, eh CyniKal?)

If anyone wants to see some of the other pics I've taken, just take a look in the TCC club pics section.

Like this one. (name the person and the car)

I have 3 digi cam right now
MY BABY Canon EOS D60 I love this camera.
A Canon G1
and A Canon S20 my first camera

I will try to post some stuff but nothing really good to post now cause I use the D60 for car shows.

I need to talk to someone who knows a bit more cause I went to courses in high school but was not really into it then and didn't pay attention. I can do most stuff by eye but I need to refine the WYSIWYG concept, so it works. For anyone who dosn't know what that means it is What You See Is What You Get. I have one Photo Published in the American Photographic Library of 2002, and my Cousin is a professional who has been published many times. I love some of his photos, and some take hours to take, but he is in the States now so he can't help. I think I need some filters or something and I want a wide angle lens.

Anything Canon is usually good, but I would go and find a place that will really let you play with it to see if you like the functions. Have not looked at Digi's for a while but I only buy Canon so far it has been great.

I think I can get sony cameras for like 60% off through my parents. Are they worth it? Is a mid range Sony even comparable to a mid range Canon (say A85 or 95)??

Lets say a 300 - 500 dollar price range from each. Which company makes a better camera?

I'm not too big on taking amazing shots and I know a lot can be done with the Canons, my parents have an A85 and it's pretty sweet.

So, for basic photo shots and maybe some more advanced ones in the future, does Sony offer the same features?

sony's are for normal point and shooters in my opinion...I've found that sonys dont give the depth and warmth to the colours as well as canons do in the same price range canon is for sure the best bet
