Manual windows

Hey guys, just looking for some basic help, any info would be great.

Well i bought my car in august and when i bought it I knew that the windows were a bit off, the cranks that is, the seem too click or act as if they are on a gear. They dont roll smooth at all...very choppy. Just wondering if any of you know what could be wrong and a possibility to fix the problem.

Asking now cuz i want it to be smooth for when spring rolls around

thanks guys.

why dont you take the door apart and look? Its not hard to pull off the panel and take a look inside.

most likely window regulator...had mine replaced as they eventually stop working. It is a known issue and when caught under warranty is no cost but outside it costs you a couple hundred dollars a side .

I had the same thing happen on my 93 hatch. Eventually, the drivers side window wouldnt go all the way up and would leave a 1/2' gap at the top. BRRRRR this time of year, bad for drive-thru's too haha

take it apart, you probly can find a working part a pick and pull, pretty easy switch, but watch when you take the window glass out, the tend to drop right out on some doors, inculding the one i did (cought it in time tho lol)

if you took it to a dealer, they would forsure know what they were doing, alothough, yeah it will cost alot. any mechainc would probly be able to do it, search around theres bound to be a DIY on it or something simialar

I agree with the open it up and look for yourself approach.
there has to be a DIY tellin you how so you'll know what to expect. it's not all that hard. you could find somethings just loose and save it in time. it's when it's not workin just right but you keep doin it anyway that'll only make it worse. right now it could just be one little part. a loose bolt or worn rubber gromet. but if you let it go then it'll turn into a bent up regulator and the whole thing will need to be replaced. If you not sure on opening the door, then changing the reg is likely not something you should do yourself. not impossible or even that much harder tho.

I guess ill give the dealer a call and see what they say, most likely they will say they need to look at it for an hour and charge 100 bucks for that lol, i would much rather it fixed tho and have it smooth then having it break and my window staying open.

you have to re-install the glass run channel and replace the glass run channel if it is damaged.
