The Infamous Windshield Wiper Problem (EK)

I'm sure many of you have read about this problem common on EK's. The wipers don't shut off when they're supposed to. Honda released a TSB regarding this stating that the motor is at fault.

Well that happened to me last night, so I took a look at it today. I pulled the arm out of the right side of the steering column and took the switch module apart. I did some cleaning of the contacts and put it back in the car.

The wipers do shut off now, but they don't always turn on. It takes some fooling around with the switch to get it working. And sometimes they stop half-way when I shut them off. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied at this point that they go on and off. I'm going to try cleaning the contacts a little bit better when I get around to it.

My question is this. Since I had some success fixing this problem, would it automatically mean that the switch alone is at fault, or can something else be wrong with the motor itself as reported in the TSB?

Also does Honda cover this kind of stuff if a car is 11 years old?

TSB's are generally for under warranty work, not out of warranty work like recalls and campaigns and even those have an expiry date in most cases

mine takes like 1.5 seconds after flicking the switch to turn on, it never did that before
