gas needle isn't moving
i tried doing some search, i found some thread talking about installing gauges like indiglo...
i just got my EK 2 days ago, really happy with it up to this point because its such a nice car! haha... someone might notice my funny post in the discussion forum about my car color isn't the same on the ownership haha...
well, let's move on to the main question... first off, i drive a 1996 civic si (coupe obviously since its si haha) the previous owner had the gauge replaced with an indiglo one... well, today i was driving most of the day and the fuel low indicator light finally came on and stayed on... but then i look at the gas needle and its still at 1/4, so i'm scratching my head! to play safe, i stop by an esso and gas my ride to the top at 86 (yikes)... i turn on the car... gas light doesnt come on again, but the needle is still at 1/4... so i park aside, turn off car, restart the engine... still at 1/4... then later i park'd underground at the apt., tried to restart car at a flat surface... still at 1/4... so i'm wondering what might be the problem... by reading through past threads, i discover installing gauges can break needles easily... i'm hoping the gas and temp needle is not messed... well, from what i've describe... anyone know what might be other possible problems? or my needle is broken?
so, is my needle broken? or any other possible problems?
how much to get the needle fix or replaced?
anyone willing to have a look for me or help me fix it?
i know there are people around that is willing to do free work for experience and fun, i can offer a beer or two (but i don't drink) i'll go with the chinese drinks haha...
well, whoever has time or is willing to offer some help by fixing or check for your joy and learning experience, i don't mind having you doing a little experiment, as long as you indicate to me you know what you're doing and talking about... i know who's reputable around here...
so post back here or pm me or email me walter8299@msn.com
or add me to msn if you have any ideas or wants to help!

well, there is a slight possiblity it could be the gas you filled up mucking up your guage cluster. There was a problem with guages not moving after tanking up with I beleive Shell and mainly chrysler vechiles.
heres the link to shells website
Shell's fuel additive gas guage settlement
Thats a POSSIBILITY though not highly likly. (especially that it was an additive they used a while ago)
Since your gas low light is coming on its not likly that its the fuel sensor.
It means you either have a broken needle or need to realign the needle. But if its not moving at all its probably broken. Since you just bought the car Id call the guy who sold you the car. Since you probably cant do much to him, I suggest you just ask him is the needle broken? Yes or no?
The important part is that you now when your low on gas
Might be time for a new cluster
but get a second opinion because im far from a professional
