Amp Tuning Help Needed...Problems!
I Have a Jensen 300W 2 Channel Bridgeable Amp
[yes i know its jensen, and its crap, and i cant expect much from it, but ill get what i can get out of it]
I Have 2 12 Inch Woofers that come in their own enclosures, the company is Thump!
[yes i know its also a lame company, and they likely arent efficent, but im poor, and they do the job space-wise]
I have the amp input level control at about 1/4, and my deck running at about 3/4...specially in music with heavy bass, the amp cuts out, all the time, for 2 sec, then on for 2 sec, then out......now, this isnt being played at a painful level or anything, its not excessive
the amp is mildly warm, the amp is newly refurbished, it is not painful to touch, so its not overheated, i have overheated it running it in low pass mode, and it was VERY hot, but didnt cut out till after a long time, now its cutting out when im running it in full mode [i have tweeters and a woofer in the boxes, they are full range boxes]
anyways, my question is, is is there some way i can reconfig my 2 12's so that there is less a drain on my amp, and thus let me play it louder, without it cutting out
if i treat both speakers as 1 and bridge them, will that help at all? any other suggestions? should i retune things, so the deck is at 1/4 and the amp is at 3/4? id think that would make it worse...dont know
help!

i have 2 seperate 12's, in their own boxes, and my amp is 2 channels..so i have one box in the right, and one box in the left, using all avaliable outputs.
im assuming the woofers are 4 Ohms each..and the amp is 2 ohms stable..from what i know...
basicly im looking for a setup that will require LESS of the amp, or give me MORE sound with the same amp drain, so that it doesnt cut out on me and im happy...

sounds like everything is hooked up fine.
if you want try series the speaker outputs to achieve an 8 ohm load then run that bridge to the amp, you will get less output but will not likely make the amp turn off.

ok ill try that, so 2 4ohm speakers in series ='s 8 ohms..ok
could it maybe be needing higher quality wiring or something? cause its a 300 w amp and im not even using the other 3/4 of its power really...btw i have a 5v pre-amp in my deck
i just want it loud enough to have the windows down and still hear it well

sounds like the ohms are wired to low...I dont know forsure, but I doubt the amp is 2ohm stable, seeing as its a jensen and all...???
the only problem is the bass wont hit as hard with higher ohms wired...but its better than having it cut out...

with all the cutting in and out of the amp, i think it messed one of my 12's...so i figure ill just get a better sub and keep the enclosure...
i may try to just bridge ONE of the speakers with it and see how things sound, etc...
i dont think it was an ohm prob cause i had it wired totally normal, like 1 to the right outputs, 1 to the left outputs...
there are no markings on the subs so i dont knwo WHAT ohms they are...they put pure crap in their boxes..not that thump isnt already crap..heh

wireing the amp isnt the only place to change ohms...the individual subs have to be wired properly also...unless that only applies to duel voic coils... damn i forget now, been so long since i touched my stereo lol...

UPDATE!
so the one box is fried, so im storing that, and maybe if my other one dies too, ill go buy a HQ sub and put it in those boxes.
so right now i just have a single bridged box [w/woofer and horn tweeter] wired to the amp in "Full" mode, not low pass, and its hitting pretty hard and sounding good, slightly less mid-range tones, but the bass is good, and its not shutting off, so i guess i should be happy..and hope it lasts..and the amp nor the box blows..considering, i have a a 25 dollar box, and a 80 dollar 300w amp, thats sounding pretty damn good.

yah its running in full range then...as your taste for bass matures (more you listen to it i mean) you will want the low pass...right now the sub is trying to play all the frequencys...
actually wait, you said it has a tweeter also...so it should have a passive crosover built into the box which would be sending a low range to the sub and the highs to the tweet, so in your case its good to have the amp running in full range then...
Glad to hear its working

acually, its not a "sub" technically i dont think..just a big *** woofer, so if i put it into low pass, you hardly hear anything since it cant handle REALLY low stuff, just good thumping mid-bass, and i took one apart, and their is no visible crossover...so everythings getting sent to the woofers and tweeter...weird and CHEAP eh? but it still sounds ok...so whatever, im not going for crystal clear...just something that covers all the bases

sounds like everything was wired fine, i bet the amp was still messed up since its most likely a refurbed model you bought for that cheap.
Thump aint that crap, I got 2 8"s in my boat and they pound nice, got some nice low end on them, all in the box design.

im thinkin, is it possible, the amp started messing ONCE the woofer was already shot, and the woofer, was what was messing it up? just a thought, since now im driving it hard and its not shutting off
