Angry Amp problems

Something seems to be wrong with my amp.. it overheats like a mother****er all the time..
it's weird cuz i even turned off the subs from the option on my deck.. and my amp still overheats..

it's a 300 watt phoenix gold amp..

any idea why this might be?

Ya my guess is that its shorting out. Check the ground, power and remote wire, make sure nothin is pinching them anywhere and that they are connected properly

8 awg should be fine for 300 watts.

Just make sure you have a clean ground to the chasis, with no paint, you can check the resistance between the ground mount and the neg on the battery as well.

and to jayp6969: sorry but as long as the wire is the same gauge, there should be no diff.. name is a name... i could use 4 awg welding cable VS 4 awg name brand cable as well and you would see no difference at all..

Im thinking something was gone aray from the way it was installed, NOT the cable used

loudsubz, the only difference would be if the conductor were a different material. If you're pushing high current there would be a slight difference between 100% copper and whatever cheap alloy they put in $20 wiring kits. It would have to be really bad conductive material to make much of a difference though.

yes I am aware... but I have yet to see anything besides copper be used in the wire I have seen.
