ECU & VSS Problems

okay, well, my vss is not working again, so my odometer and speedometer arent operating. the weird this is is that the CEL isnt coming on, and from what i know, the CEL should come on and spit out code 17. so maybe my ecu is messed up?

the CEL light does eventually come on, but only after driving for awhile, and usually its after rough road conditions. but it should be on once the car is started, no? the car is a 92 honda civic si..

Your connectors may be loose...it may not be a sensor fault.

YUp - take a look at hte plug. Make sure there is no corossion in the plug. They are very prone to correosion because of their location.

Unplug, the VSS, visually inspoect it and spray some WD40 in the plug and connector.... that might help

Don't know that I would do the WD-40 thing. Don't want to leave a film on the connector, dielectric grease is good though. Make sure the wires are securely in the plug.
You haven't dropped the tranny for anything lately have you?

I had that VSS problem a few weeks ago. Took the harness off and cleaned all connections and bingo!! Speedo and Odo working just fine.
