98 Si Install (No Sound)
I did a few searchs but I couldn`t find anything on the topic, so here it goes.
I have been trying to get my Alpine CDA-9835 to work in my 98 Si. I bought the wiring harness adapter, wired everything up correctly, used the 1 inch adapter to lift the deck out for a nice clean install. I am not sure if the car has the premium stereo option or not, but what I can tell you is it has a seperate cassette player below by the cup holders, and a six speaker stereo from the factory. (tweeters up top in the door by the mirrors, front speakers in door panels down below, and speakers in the rear).
Now the problem is the deck powers right up, plays songs, works etc, EXCEPT no sound.. zippo !
Things I have checked.
-Wiring is all perfect. The only wires I did not hook up were: the dimmer wire(on the adapters harness) (not needed, since I don`t care if the deck dims with the dash lights), The blue wire for shutting any external amplifiers on or off(on the decks harness), and the ìnternal intenna pink wire (on the decks harness).
All the speakers are wired fine, as is the ground, 12v, etc.
But when the deck is in I have zero sound.......
Things I have tried.
-Turning the decks internal amplifier on (did it.. still no sound)
-Plugged the stock deck back in and it worked, music played.. all is peechy when the stock deck is put back in.
-tested the speakers with a 9v battery, they all work.
Anyone have any idea what this is.. IS their an amplifier in the car some where É if so How do I hook this thing up....
-(also note my car does not have keyless entry, so I don`t need to worry about relocating the stock deck)

Sounds like you have a bad deck or the wires for the speakers are not connected correctly.
Do you have the speakers being powered by an amplifier? If so then you need the blue wire connected so the deck can tell the amps to turn on.
I don't know on these cars with the tweeters in the doors if they have a crossover or a powered amp to separate the highs and lows. If there is an amp in there, you definitely need the blue wire connected.
I'd test the deck plugged in, but not mounted, and have a separate speaker on hand to test the outputs on the deck individually.

If the speakers POP with a 9v then there would be no issue with an external amp.... I'd swap the unit and try another one. It sounds like the internal amp is screwed, unless you have the mute button activated, but with cycling the key off, and on..... I doubt that's the issue. Its the HU.

^ That's what I did, but instead of leaving the stock radio in, I have gauges.
