depends on the subs yer thinkin' about getting..
space available..
ported or sealed..

if ya have the space..
2x12" @8ohm ported..
run in parallel you'll get a 4ohm load (in case the amp can't handle a 2ohm load..if it can, then 2x12" @4ohm )

so if i have 2 sub i will louder????but i only have a 500 watts amp so if u split it...it will be 250 on each subs.....cuz im thinkin if i only use 1 sub i can use all the 500 watts..so there will be no difference

can't answer untill i have more info.

What is the power rating on the subs?
If you have 500 watt rms, and your subs is 500 watt rms, it would make sense to go with 1 . If you go with 2 subs rated at 500 watts RMS EACH, then you will be underpowering them, and eventhough you have more cone area it wont be louder by much.

But if each sub is rated 250 watt rms or less then 2 subs will be better because there getting there reccomended RMS power and you have double the cone area.

Right now I have 2 10's and there nice. I put the same $50 10's in my friends grand am off a Sony amp and its nice and louder inside and I can hear him coming up my street.
