rumour has it both.... I've seen with my own eyes both ...but I still don't believe the SOHC one.....that one is driving me nuts I think it might have had a different end on the block but I continue to be uncertain

By the way, those were also available with FI and NA. If you had the NA ZC SOHC motor, and put the FI onto it, it gave you more than the SI motor here, with more torque to boot too.

If they're D motors why are they stamped "ZC" on the block?
I don't doubt the SOHC ZC and D motors share similarities but they aren't the same. anyone who uses the term ZC to describe a D motor would be making a very broad generalization and an incorrect one.
ZC comes in DOHC, do D motors come in DOHC? no they don't. so you can't make this generalization.
F and H series motors share similarities as well. But they are also different motors.
It's all in the engine stamp.
