zc? dohc or sohc

did the zc come either sohc or dohc or both?????????

imported_gatherer 26-May-2003 07:45 PM

rumour has it both.... I've seen with my own eyes both ...but I still don't believe the SOHC one.....that one is driving me nuts I think it might have had a different end on the block but I continue to be uncertain

SilverCRXSi 26-May-2003 07:49 PM

Yep ZC came in both versions.
The SOHC one puts out 120hp, while the DOHC puts out about 130hp.

imported_nautica_t 26-May-2003 08:05 PM

yeah they came in both, i know someone onthis board with SOHC and another with DOHC.
but i think the person with SOHC, might not have it no more.

imported_gatherer 26-May-2003 08:13 PM

I have also seen that persons car but it's not to be spoken of he likes to keep it a secert who ever he is

EK7_DriftMania 26-May-2003 10:31 PM

Anyone put a SIR mini-me? Is that even possible?

FuRiOuSrex 26-May-2003 10:47 PM

mini sir?????????? what has to be done and maybe i should do it

imported_loudsubz 26-May-2003 11:55 PM

be careful with the zc. unless you know the exact car it came out of, the hp range from like 120 to 135hp for the DOHC and less for SOHC.

Not all ZC are the same.

CRXlover 27-May-2003 04:59 AM

the zc is a general term to describe many D-series honda motors in japan and europe

Quick_CX 28-May-2003 05:25 PM

Nope, I think he had an accident with the car.

By the way, those were also available with FI and NA. If you had the NA ZC SOHC motor, and put the FI onto it, it gave you more than the SI motor here, with more torque to boot too.

ummm no.. ZC motors are similar to D-series but they aren't D-series motors. The engines are stamped "ZC" on them. ZC's are available in SOHC, SOHC VTEC, and DOHC.

You mean Dual Point vs. Multi Point Fuel Injection right? Cuz no civic ever came with a turbo or super. :D

PULOVR 28-May-2003 07:45 PM

Nope. NA

I HAVE A SECOND GENERATION ZC DOHC...PARTS ARE A PAIN TO FIND .

SilverCRXSi 30-May-2003 08:23 PM

Parts for the ZC aren't hard to find.
It basically uses most of the parts from an old school 'teg.

BarelyLegalCivi 01-Jun-2003 12:19 AM

man i said i have a second gen ....things from the integ dont fit

i thought so too about the teg part.....sometimes thigns are different

SilverCRXSi 02-Jun-2003 08:53 PM

Whoops my bad!
All i Know is that I've had no problems with parts, but I've never even seen a ZC in a 5G Civic...

CRXlover 02-Jun-2003 10:33 PM

ummmmmm yes hence the European ZC aka D16A8 and D16A9.....the 86 to 87 D16A1 "ZC". the jdm SOHC ZC which is basically the D16Z6...just go here..like i said the zc is a general term used to describe some D-series motors

Jugglez 03-Jun-2003 12:35 AM

If they're D motors why are they stamped "ZC" on the block?

I don't doubt the SOHC ZC and D motors share similarities but they aren't the same. anyone who uses the term ZC to describe a D motor would be making a very broad generalization and an incorrect one.

ZC comes in DOHC, do D motors come in DOHC? no they don't. so you can't make this generalization.

F and H series motors share similarities as well. But they are also different motors.

It's all in the engine stamp.
