well you will need check valves to block boost from teh map sensor....FMu's are garbage and will make your car run poorly and nto make good hp....for a decent setup get 450 dsm injectors a afc and a 190 walboro fuel pump and tune it on a dyno....all a fmu does is boost fuel pressure up to unsafe levels to flow mroe fuel out of the stock injectors....

Also where can I pick up the check valves.

buy a missing link or go the really cheap route with check valves from a fishing store.

honestly though, why not just get an S-AFC. they look sick and can be had cheap. I sold mine for $310. And get some injectors too, see if Gallagher will sell you some due to his recent bad luck.

I still dont understand what the check valves is I know what it does but its hard to picture what I am hooking up if you know waht I mean

Truth be told...there are many "experienced" folks the have well runing, high boost Honda turbo setups running FMU's.

They do work...but there are better ways to do it.

yup...
those FMU fuel set ups are basically the most ghetto way to go for fuel management when ur doing a turbo set up...
and as bruno said...
they're only good up to about 7 psi as a rule of thumb...

trust me my friend...invest in a hondata...u can use it not only for tuning but as a replacement for ur stock ecu..i think that is how it functions..u'll be thankful in the long run

I dont know why so many people knock on FMU with check vavles....I ran it at 7psi with no problems...no det...no pings
I upgraded to AFC hack just cause i wanted to run 10psi.
I still say its ok to run 8psi on FMU with check vavles...check out turbod16.com as there are alot of people running that setup without problems.
There are so many myths about boosting honda that sound right but are complete bull****. Just do your research or talk to people actually running turbo setups.

ppl who successfully run FMU also use good pumps, 310 injectors and elec fuel pressure gauges. The elec fuel pressure gauge alone costs over $200. Slvr_Bullet ran an FMU for a long time, but he also had a J&S safeguard to prevent detonation.

it's one way to go, but IMO it's not the best sol'n. The AFC is cheaper in the long run as you found out yourself, cuz at the end you ended up upgrading anyways. so why not do it right the first time?

in the for sale section some dude is selling a feilds afc and a apexi afc for like 200 bux each....then go to a wrecker and get some dsm injectors for cheap...fmu's are crap.....oh and also get a msd BTm (boost timing master) to cut your timing while under boost....the ihi turbo won't flow to much cfm so 450 cc injectors are over kill but what ever...

afc (feilds, apexi)
injectors (turbo talon 450 cc or any other ones you can get that are above 310 cc)

msd BTM (boost timing master)
adn that is about it...piping intercooler turbo oil lines and a dyno session to tune that ****....

oh and a clutch (euro drive makes cheap race clutches)

get a turbo talon BOV aswell..it's a very good BOV and will be cheap at a wreckers....
