Winter Tires.

Winter Tires.
I'm contemplating on putting winter tires on.. Is there really a big difference in relation to traction or should I save my money. I can say my handling is awful during the winter but I'd like to know people's experience with winter tires.....
Also, if I do decide to get them, should I just grab some crappy tire motomaster ones???

I think it's a night/day difference.
I was coming home Monday night on the 401 and everyone was going pretty slow, but I was driving almost @ normal speeds. Except around Warden when everything came to a stand still cuz it became an ice rink
Also I noticed that stopping improved A LOT. I used to run my all season 13" stockers and would slide coming to a stop. Well I tried braking hard to see if that would happen with my new snows and NOPE. Stuck like shyt
Btw, 14" KW11s all around
Thanks SW20 MR2

werd... I only drive to the tune of what my tires can do.... in the winter I pussyfoot around town, so I can get away with older all seasons, but honestly, in a city like TO where danger just one carlength away with some assclown behind the wheel, I wouldn't dare go w/o winter tires.

Well, snow tires will definitely perform better then 4 season tires in winter. But given the grades between different brands, what you pay is what you gonna get. CT snow tires are good enough for daily driving. If you need the idea of more security in winter then just get these tires.

snow makes a hell of a differences in snow. You don't have to go to CT for snows. There are many brands out there for a reasonablel price. If you are runing 14 inch factory wheels, it shouldn't costs you more than $100.00 incl tax a shot.
Peace.

I put snow tires on for the first time (b/c they came w/ the car w/ an extra set of rims) had a little lockup on the 401 when all the idiot cars rammed on the brakes made a decent difference in the snow.... and the last couple winters i've been in the ditch so im hopin to avoid that w/ the snows this winter

just to let you know....if you get a seprate set of rims for your snows, and you get the tires from Crappy Tire, they will swap the snows on for you for free every year, because you bought them there.
And if you get your performance tirea from there too, then you will never have to pay for summer/winter tire swaps.....as long as there are 2 sets of rims, and both sets of tires came from there.
Bet you didn't know that.
