Will a high-flow cat pass e-test?
Hey guys just wondering as there is a lot of talk about this but with out emissions standards, does anybody here have a high flow cat on their exhaust setup and took it in for etest?
I've heard it will fail and I do somewhat understand why but some people are trying to tell me otherwise.

when ur car is tested as a hot rod it goes by the standards in 1984 or 1986 (i think its 20 years ago, but not 100% on that).
But in order to be classified as a hot rod your engine needs to be of larger displacement than any engine offered it that model year car. So going from a d15/d16 to a b16 isn't going to get you classified as a hot rod....unless the place you take the car doesn't know what a b18 looks like....wink wink.
When i took my car for the last etest it was tested as a hot rod and the limits were almost 5 times higher than compared to stock.

when you go get the test make sure the car is nice and hot, cats have a high operating temp.
there are a bunch of tricks out there to increase your odds of passing. I think running on an empty tank also helps, just look it up on google.

well they will definately run your car as a hot rod, so i wouldn't worry at all about having a high flow cat. Like i said before the limits are way higher when run as a hot rod. But i would still go for a 25 minute cruise (preferrably highway speeds) before going for the test.
